UN 17 SDG's work reviewed by GGF UN Envoy at Lawrence School

JAMMU: Dr. Dominic Shellard GGF envoy to United Nations DGC New York & Ex Vice Chancellor De Mont Fort University U.K along with Lousie Pinsent Secretary Theseus Global Education U.K reviewed the ongoing work on UN 17 SDG's at Lawrence Public School, Jammu.

Dr. Dominic Shellard was the Chief Guest on this occassion whereas Ms. Lousie Pinsent was the Guest of Honour & Dr. Sunali Kashyap was the Special Guest. The program was presided over by Padamshree Dr. S.P. Varma President Gandhi Global Family J&K. The Chief Guest was presented with a UN colour turban to mark the 550th birth anniversary year of Guru Nanak Dev ji & 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the honourable guests.

Wg Cdr M.M. Joshi Chairman Lawrence Public School in his welcome address introduced the Chief Guest & the Guest of Honour to the students.

Later a detailed power point presentation was presented by Mitalli Pandita showcasing the work done in the past few months by students of Lawrence Public School on UN 17 SDG's, goal no. 8 Decent Work & Economic growth. The presentation was followed by an interactive session of students with Dr. Dominic Shellard & Lousie Pinsent.

Padamshree Dr. S.P. Varma informed that from the past more than 30 years, the Gandhi Global Family is working hand in hand with the Lawrence Public School in promoting social good in Jammu city. Gandhi Global Family in collaboration with UNIC is promoting UN 17 SDG's by involving schools & colleges across India.

Dr Dominic Shellard, in his address to students, highlighted the importance of 2030 agenda for UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals as an inclusive movement designed to self sustain the progress of humankind. He appreciated the efforts of Lawrence Public School students Abhiudhay Sharma, Vanshika Baru, Apurva Bhat, Mitali Sharma & Shinali Raina for playing a pro-active role in promoting UN 17 SDG's. He said the United Nations has launched various schemes by virtue of which the school is on right track to meet the goal 8 - Decent Work & Economic Growth of UN 17 SDGs.

The programme concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the guests by Wg. Cdr. M.M. Joshi Chairman Lawrence Public School. The prominent amongst those present included G.R. Bhagat I.A.S. retd, Jaswinder Singh Kukku GGF Coordinator Italy, Bashir Ahmed Sheikh GGF Secretary J&K, Ankush Verma Director Regional & Urban Development Agency, Sanjeev Arora CEO RUDA, Basant GGF Secretary Hyderabad.

The vote of thanks was presented by Shivani Joshi, Headmistress, Lawrence Public School.
