GDC Doda organises Cleanliness drive against 'Single Use Plastics'

DODA: 'Green Rangers' Eco-Club of the Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with NSS unit, Government Degree College, Doda organized one day cleanliness drive against the global problem of 'Single-use plastics'.

The programme commenced with the introductory address by Prof. Akrity Parihar, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences. Convener of the Eco-Club and HoD, Environmental Sciences, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, briefed to the students regarding the grave issue of single-use plastics and shared with them various success stories and alternatives to counter this problem.

Prof. Bashir Ahmed, Programme Officer, NSS unit, interacted with the students and motivated them to discard the use of "single-use plastics" in their daily routine. Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui, Principal of the College, emphasized upon the need for raising awareness about this issue in the society through students of the college.

The students pledged to discourage the use the single use plastics within the college campus and also during picnics organized by the college administration. This was followed by the collection all types of plastic waste present within the college campus which was handed over to the local recycler.
