Advisor Khan attends 125th Birthday commemoration of Maharaja Hari Singh

JAMMU: Advisor to Governor, Farooq Khan today attended the 125th Birthday commemoration of Maharaja Hari Singh here at MHAC School, Nagbani.

The school gathered to celebrate Maharaja Hari Singhs' Birthday with great pomp and show.

Former Minister, Sukhnandan Choudhary besides team members of MHAC School management including Manager, T K Ganjoo, Principal Sween Puri, LMC Members and the staff members of the school attended the function.

Advisor Khan along with other dignitaries present on the occasion paid floral tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh. Besides, hawan, a sacred purifying ritual, was performed to mark the day followed by bhajan and a group song by the staff of the school.

Keeping alive the philanthropic spirit of the founder father, the school invites some under privileged schools to participate in the celebrations. This year, around 150 students along with their teachers from Vir Ram Chander Memorial Trust Orphan School, Ban Bathera, Samaj Kalyan Kendra School for the hearing impaired and Border-less World Foundation NGO took part in the hawan.

The school also donated an LED, a computer, Gas Stove, Tiffins and Stationery items to these schools which were presented to them by the Advisor.

While speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan lauded the contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh and said that the late Maharaja will always be remembered for his good works done for social transformation in the state.

The Advisor called Maharaja Hari Singh and other Dogra Rulers the crusaders of education and said that the MHAC Nagbani is a befitting tribute to the progressive thoughts of Maharaja Hari Singh and a culmination of his dream of educated Jammu.

Advisor Khan said that he felt immensely privileged to be the Chief Guest on this momentous occasion and also recalled his association with the royal family.

Advisor complimented the talented musicians and singers of the school for presenting impressive performances.

Later, the Advisor visited different sections of the school including Mahatma Anand Swami Hostel and interacted with the students and staff members.

Principal of the school threw light on the life of Maharaja Hari Singh and termed him as a great visionary, a true patriot, progressive thinker and a social reformer. She also said that some of his endeavours including promoting literacy, making laws prohibiting child marriage & threw open places of workshop for all has brought a great social change in the Jammu and Kashmir.

An exhibition showcasing the philosophy of Maharaja Hari Singh was also organised on the occasion.

The School management also presented a painting on theme ‘Save Water' made by Sonam Mahajan along with a memento to the Advisor.

Reiterating the resolve to carry forward messages and teachings of Maharaja Hari Singh, the programme ended with Shanti Path to invoke the blessings of Almighty to make the school reach echelons of success in the coming years.
