DC Kathua reviews arrangements for Navratra Festival

KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer today reviewed the arrangements for the Navratra festival, here at an officers' meeting.

Detailed deliberations were held on various aspects related to the smooth conduct of festival. The DC directed the officers to ensure all necessary arrangements to facilitate the devotees during festivity.

Arrangements like transportation, sanitation, drinking water, power supply, first-aid facilities, and regulation of eatables and quality besides security arrangements were thoroughly discussed in the meeting.

Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to repair the bridle paths leading to the temples and shrines. Instructions were to the PHE functionaries to ensure regular supply of drinking water at the shrines and important Yatra path routes. The PDD was also directed to ensure un-interrupted power supply to all the shrines. Barricading for the benefit of devotees was also discussed in the meeting.

Chief Medical Officer was directed to make available necessary medical facilities at all the shrines with life saving drugs first aid along with team of doctors. The CAPD department and Municipal Committee were directed to keep check on the rates of eatables around temples and shrines.

Motor Vehicle Department was directed to provide transport facilities on the routes of shrines and to display fare list at bus stands for convenience of the pilgrims. The fire and emergency service will deploy fire tenders at Jasrota Mata, Sukrala Mata and Mahanpur, DC ordered.

The DC appealed the public to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in and around the religious places during the festival season. He called for stern action against the use of polythene near temples. He asked the enforcement departments to issue advisory to the shopkeepers and stall owner in Shrine areas to refrain from the use of polythene.

The traffic officials and Tehsildars of the concerned area were directed to identify areas for parking to aviod congestion of traffic. vehicles during the festival season.

Members of management committees, Pujaris of temples and shrines projected various problems and demanded installation of high mast lights around the shrines. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to resolve all the issues at the earliest.

ADCs of Kathua and Billawar, ASP, ACD, ACR, AD FCS & CA, Executive Engineers, SDM Hiranagar and all other concerned officers of the concerned departments and representatives of various committees were present in the meeting.
