Amit checks RTO Kashmir, SRTC Yard & Director Garages Offices

SRINAGAR: Amit Sharma, Special Secretary to Government, Transport Department with Additional Charge of J&K Road Safety Council today checked working of RTO Office Kashmir, SRTC Yard and Office of Director, J&K State Motor Garages.

The visit was conducted by Special Secretary Amit Sharma on the directions of the Principal Secretary to Government Asgar Samoon to oversee the functioning of these offices and check the progress of few ongoing projects in these offices.

During the visit, Special Secretary Transport Amit Sharma happened to visit RTO Kashmir Office in the afternoon today wherein RTO Ikram-Ullah Tak and other officials were conducting routine office affairs.

He gave few suggestions for incorporating systemic improvement and ensure that human interface is minimised in these public offices. However, the entire team of RTO Kashmir Office ensured that all such suggestions shall be followed to improve working and facilitate public in the near future.

Afterwards, Special Secretary Amit Sharma alongwith RTO Kashmir visited the complex of J&K State Motor Garages wherein he took a short review of the Office in the presence of Director Garages Zakir Chaudhary and Deputy Director Garages, Kashmir. He also took a quick round to check the facilities in the Complex and discussed about improving the facade of the complex in coming days.

Director Garages informed that all the requisite works and SMG Vehicles check-ups are going as per routines and recently, a major auction exercise was also conducted here to dispose-off worn out vehicles.

In the last leg of the tour, Special Secretary Transport Amit Sharma visited the site of installation of charging stations for Electric Buses in Kashmir which is coming-up inside the SRTC Yard here wherein GM, J&K SRTC, AE & JE PDD explained that 11 KV power supply shall be made available and stabilised here by the end of this month and the same shall be ready for making SRTC Yard fully operational for twenty Electric Buses which has reached Kashmir.

Special Secretary directed the SRTC team to ensure timely completion of all pending works so that the public in Kashmir could have the privilege of enjoying the ride of Electric Buses which has already become a reality in the Winter capital of the state sometime back.
