DC Rajouri inaugurates training programme for ASHA workers

RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today inaugurated a five day training programme for ASHA workers held under the aspirational programme Home Based Care for Young Child (HBYC).

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner complimented the efforts of ASHA workers towards strengthening the health care facilities at gross root level besides successful registration of beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat. He asked them to keenly acquire the knowledge about the subject and optimally utilize this training in serving the community with a missionary spirit.

The DC asked the ASHAs to motivate the women for institutional delivery, immunization to the children besides ensuring proper dissemination of information about the government schemes at the gross root level.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Principal GMC Rajouri Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Dr.Sunil Sharma, Medical Superintendent GMC Rajouri, Dr.Suresh Gupta, District Immunization Officer, Dr.Anees A Nabi, District ASHA Coordinator, Farooq Mir and other staff of CMO and ASHA workers of the district.

Farooq Mir highlighted the important role of ASHAs in providing timely health care facilities to the pregnant and newborn babies. He informed that there are total 884 ASHA workers working in the district. He said the training programme is devised in such a way that besides giving the theoretical knowledge the ASHA workers will be imparted with Skill development training as well.

Chief Medical Officer said HBYC is a crucial component of POSHAN Abhiyaan. Under this, ASHAs will visit the homes of children aged between 3 to 15 months and sensitise mothers on energy density and diet of child. Earlier, the ASHAs had to perform only 7 checkups for 42 days but under this programme she has to visit the house of the newborn until he/she is 15 months old, he added. He said the main objective of the training programme is to reduce the infant mortality rate and raise the nutritional status of the infant.
