With security forces, administration prepared to conduct polls: Governor

SRINAGAR: Reiterating that Election Commission (EC) will decide the dates to hold Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday said if the security forces, which should be made available to the state machinery to hold polls are provided, then his administration is prepared for poll process.

"The decision to hold Assembly elections in the state lies with the EC. It is the EC which will announce the dates for holding the elections in J&K," Malik said in a press conference here on Wednesday.

Answering a question whether his administration was ready to hold the Assembly polls, Malik said if the security forces, which should be made available to the state machinery are provided, his administration is prepared to hold elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We have successfully conducted local and urban body elections in the state, besides Lok Sabha election with almost no causality," he said.
