Students in Bhaderwah took out unity peace rally alongwith Indian Army

DODA: In the backdrop of ongoing general elections, even as some vested interests are trying to create a vedge between the communities by flaring the communal tension, the voices that demanded peace couldn't be muted.

More than 1500 students from different schools, colleges and University campus supported by Indian Army took out a rally in Bhaderwah town of Doda district on Tuesday chanting slogans of peace and unity and requesting all to maintain harmony.

The 'Unity Peace Rally' of the students and members of civil society was taken out after the meeting at Community Hall Kotli. Students holding banners were joined by teachers, professors, Army officers and members of civil society along with local police protecting the rally.

The rally which started from community hall Kotli and after passing through different localities of the town including general bus stand, Chobia link road and Lakshmi Narayan Chowk, converged at historical Seri Bazar, where students and members of civil society addressed the gathering and also took a pledge to maintain peace and communal at all costs.

"We wanted people to know that a majority of citizens are peace loving and do not want conflict or communal tension as peace is imperative not only for development of the area but for our studies as well," said Shagun Manhas, student.
