Workshop organised at JU

JAMMU: A five day skill development workshop on 'Personal Grooming through Aesthetic Skills' organized by the Centre for Women's Studies, University of Jammu, was inaugurated today in the seminar Hall of the Centre.

The Chief Guest of the occasion was Prof. Anita Billawaria, Dean Social Sciences who spoke about the inner and outer beauty and the way in which women should present themselves irrespective of age and background.

Anjana Jamwal, Skin Faculty, VLCC Institute of Beauty and Nutrition, Pune, was the key resource person in the workshop. She underlined the fact that the body needs attention and this is the primary mantra for our body's good health.

Most of the times we do not devote the required attention that our body needs which often destroyes the vitals of the body. Thus it is essential for everyone to take care of tne body as well.

She also spoke on wide ranging issues related to personal grooming. Particularly important was her pointed discussion on the relationship between inner health and outer health resulting in healthy skin and hair. She also focused on the importance of SPF, CTM, and how to create a judicious relationship between body and mind, leading to happy life.

Earlier in her welcome address, Prof. Suman Jamwal, Director, Centre for Women's Studies highlighted the importance of the personal grooming and skill development program vis-a vis the activities of the Centre. In this context she also pointed out how this is increasingly becoming a neglected domain of concern under the pressure generated by the forces of modernization leading to several negative impact on one's life. Such courses, therefore, help achieving a balanced and fruitful life. Moreover, it would also lead to the economic empowerment by virtue of generating self employment.

The Inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Priyanka Katoch and vote of thanks was delivered by Saranjit Kaur.
