Omar Abdullah takes a jibe at Mehbooba Mufti for using the word "Chowkidar"

SRINAGAR: National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took a jibe at the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Twitter on Tuesday for using the word 'Chowkidar'.

Mehbooba Mufti, who was campaigning for the People's Democratic Party in south Kashmir on Monday told her party workers, "I did chowkidari for you. I saved you from clutches of Ikhwan, why are your spirits not high today?"

Omar Abdullah has responded by tweeting, "Chowkidar Mehbooba Mufti? Not the best choice of words under the current circumstances."

Abdullah was referring to the term 'chowkidar' which has been at the centre of much political debate recently. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling himself a chowkidar (guard) of the nation, the word has gained a new significance in campaign speeches across the political spectrum.
