NSS, JU organizes a one-day Workshop on 'Youth and Healthy Life-Style'

JAMMU: National Service Scheme (NSS) Campus Units, University of Jammu organized a one-day Workshop on 'Youth and Healthy Life-Style' for 90 PG Learners and NSS Volunteers of the Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu. Prof. Rajnikant, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the workshop.

Prof. Rajnikant in his inaugural address spoke on the modern life-style adopted by the youth.

He called upon the youth to change and adopt healthy life style for physical, mental and spiritual health as good health isthe best defense against all maladies. Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman, NSS Campus Units, JU formally welcomed the guests and participants of the workshop.

He acquainted the participants with objectives of NSS and gave anappreciative report of the NSS activities organized by the DDE, NSS Unit.Dr. AnjuThappa, NSS PO presented vote of thanks.

The first session was conducted by Prof. Jasbir Singh on 'Role of Meditation and Spirituality in Healthy Life Style'. Dr. Hema Gandotra, NSS PO in the second session dwelt at length on "Youth and Healthy Life-Style - A Sociological Perspective" through cultural symbols, beliefs and socialization.

The third interactive sessionon group activities was conducted by Prof. Anupama Vohra, Convenor Publication. The participants were divided into 7 groups and they gave presentations on the various aspects of youth and healthy life.

The post lunch session was deliveredon "Healthy Diet and How to Overcome Stress" by Dr. Sarika Manhas from Department of Home Science. Sheen lightened participants regarding healthy diet for healthy life to overcome stress.

The last session on 'Stress Management through Meditation' was conducted by Dr. Sakshi Sharma, Assistant Professor, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, Faculty members, senior NSS volunteers, and officers from the Directorate graced the inaugural function.
