Goenkans celebrate 11th Annual Day with zeal, zest

JAMMU: G.D. Goenka Public School, Jammucelebrated the Annual Function Aahvaan 2019 amidst enthusiasm and gaiety at Goenkan green acres.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Navin Kumar Choudhary, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Govt. of J&K. The occasion was graced by several renowned Principals, namely, JS Dhami, Heritage School; Nirmal Mahna, DPS Kathua, Capt Muthuraman, Sainik School, Nagrota; SK Singh, JK Public School Kunjwani, Anil Pathania, JK Public School, Kathua; and Pramod Srivastava, Model Academy, Jammu. Rahul Bansal, President of Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust and Sanya Bansal, the Director were also present to motivate the entire GD Goenka family.

The gala show ‘Aahvaan' commenced with the presentation by the gifted school choir. The school orchestra put forth a harmonious blend of string and percussion instruments. The invocation of Lord Ganesha to seek blessings of the Almighty displayed the abounding flair in the Goenkans. A Tableau was presented by the little Goenkans which depicted their talent of music, dance and enactment. It was followed by the floral felicitation of the Chief Guest and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

The Principal of the school, Rajesh Rathore delivered his welcome address, touching tangentiallyupon the achievement galore of the school for the year 2018. He appreciated the untiring efforts of students and the brilliant contributions made by the members of staff. It was followed by an elaborate "Award Ceremony" wherein the meritorious achievers were felicitated with prizes, medals and trophies.

The grand finale of the evening was the breathtaking presentation of the play Razia Sultan, a tableau depicting values and courage of a woman. It took the audience through the annals of medieval history to view the epic journey of Razia Sultan - the first and the last woman sultan of Delhi (from 10th Nov., 1236 to 14th Oct. 1240). The emperor's spirited daughter was a born princess. She adopted a warrior's role and proved to be an efficient, just and a noble ruler.

The play was a kaleidoscope of dances and medley of songs, which captivated the audience. The resounding applause from the audienceto appreciate the superb theatrical skills of children will be cherished for a long time. Beautifully choreographed dances and songs enraptured everyone present there. The gripping enactment of the play by the talented Goenkans enlivened the characters on the stage from the pages of history.

While addressing the gathering, the chief guest Navin Kumar Choudhary expresseddelight on the accomplishments of the school and urged the students to hone their talent to shape their destiny and bring laurels to the state and the nation as well.

He expressed his happinessover the befitting recognition accorded to awardees during the Award ceremony, which would definitely serve as an impetus to their stellar performance consistently. He wished a very bright future to students and good luck to the Institution to scale greater and greaterheights ahead. A memento was presented to the chief guest, as a token of remembrance and appreciation.

Radhika Sharma, the Sr. Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. The grand event culminated with the singing of National Anthem.
