DIS celebrates Baisakhi and Ramnavmi

JAMMU: Doon International School, Jammu reverberated with loud cheers during the Baisakhi and Ramnavmi celebrations held in the school premise which was aptly decorated depicting the joviality of the harvest season.

The festivities began with the recital of 'Shabad Kirtan' followed by speeches & poems explaining the significance of the day. The whole school came alive with the brilliant dance performances by the senior class students.

Gatka was also performed by the students that showcased the bravery,valour and courage of the Nihangs. A medley of cheerful songs enthralled the audience.

The purpose was to make the student aware of the historical background, significance and relevance of Baisakhi. Dhol beats, Punjabi folk and sweet halwa added absolute Punjabi flavour to the excitement.

Kanyapujan of nine girls from the 'Phulwari' section was also performed to commemorate the pious week of 'Navratras'.

The event was graced by Vice Principal Mrs. Gurdeep Kaur, Headmistress Sarita Moza Kaul and Dr A.K. Kharu.
