DPS Udhampur celebrates Baisakhi

UDHAMPUR: The Students and staff of Delhi Public School, Udhampur celebrated Baisakhi with great fervor and zeal.

A special Assembly was held to mark the occasion; children were addressed with a speech and poem educating them about the various facts of the festival. Students were also made aware about Jallian Wala Bagh Massacre that took place on 13th April, 1919 & one minute silence was observed in the memory of martyr’s. The whole school came alive with a brilliant Bhangra Battle & group dance performances.

The highlights of the Programme were “Gatka”, where scholars of the school presented, martial art skills associated with Sikhs of Punjab region. Students showcased sticks fighting with wooden sticks intended to stimulate swords.

Multipurpose hall of the school was converted into Punjabi suba depicting colourful and vibrant life of Punjab with the help of Manji, ripe crops and Matkas/gagars.

Honorable Pro-Vice Chairman of the school, Dr. J. C.Gupta appreciated the students for presenting such a wide variety of items. He was happy to see Tiny Tots in vibrant Punjabi Attire emphasizing the significance of the festival worthy, Principal of the school, Dr. Kunal Anand praised the efforts and hard work of the teachers and students for putting up such a great show. Where children were not only entertained, were but educated also about the significance of the festival.
