Delegation of CTA calls on Principal Secretary, Finance

JAMMU: A delegation of the College Teachers Association (CTA) led by the President Prof. D.S. Manhas met Arun Kumar Mehta (IAS), Principal Secretary, Finance J&K State, regarding restoration of increments for Ph.D / M.Phil and other Higher Qualifications in favour of College Teachers as per UGC regulations 2018.

College Teachers Association (CTA) stated that as per the UGC regulations, the UGC has restored increments for Ph.D / M.Phil. and other Higher Qualifications.

The Association informed that these increments were given in 6th CPC as per UGC regulations 2010, but were stopped in 7th CPC as per UGC notification dated 31st January 2018.The J&K College Teachers Association and Associations at the National level represented the case to MHRD and UGC, after which UGC restored the increments after approval from MHRD vide notification dated 21-07-2018 in favour of college teachers and University teachers. While as the Universities have restored these increments but the college teachers have been deprived of theses increments so far.

The Association further stated that the issue was taken up with the Higher Education Department and Finance Department j&K Govt time and again but was not resolved so far although Higher Education Department has recommended the restoration of these increments and forwarded the case to Finance Department for approval.. The Principal Secretary Finance held discussions in this regard with the Director Codes in the presence of association and directed Director Codes to resolve the issue after verifying the facts and restore the increments to the college teachers.

The delegation included Dr. Anil Ganjoo (Gen. Secy), and Prof. Rakesh Sharma, (Jt. Secy).
