2 Days Workshop commences at JU under Samagra Shikhsa

JAMMU: A two days workshop on Adolescence Education commences at Jammu University under Directorate of Samagra Shikhsa, J&K in association with Department of Homes Science. The workshop focuses to address key issues of Adloscence students which they encounter during adolescence period.

Around 50 participants, from teaching fraternity of Department of School Education attended the workshop. The participating members are having enormous teaching experience and have been associated with various innovative programs being conducted in School Education Department.

During the inaugural, Dr. Arun Manhas, State Project Director Samagra Shikhsa deliberated over importance of open discussion within teachers, students and peers related to various sensitive issues related to Adolescence. He stressed upon the participants to gather maximum knowledge through this workshop and deliver the same to grass root upto the level of students.

Dr. Manhas while addressing the audience shared that the existing gaps at school level must be identified and addressed well through their teachers. The Teachers are the real Torch Bearers for their students and their mentorship does influence the lives and careers of several, said Dr. Manhas.

Dr. Sarika Manhas, Associate Professor from Department of Home Science conducted the Technical sessions on "Physical & Mental Changes during Adolescence, Sexual Abuse, Stress anxiety, depression and Menstrual Hygiene.

Later in the session, prominent Resource Persons also deliberated over various key issues related to the theme.

The program was overall coordinated by Dr. Shabina Shamim, State Coordinator, Directorate of Samagra Shikhsa.
