BOMIS holds Parents' Orientation Programme

JAMMU: Parents' Orientation Programme was organized at Birla Open Minds International School, Jammu with the aim to ensure a positive atmosphere for learning as well as building up a healthy relationship between the parents and the school.

The parents were acquainted with the curriculum, teaching methodologies, rules and regulations of the school, and the co-scholastic activities.

Puspita Chattopadhyay, (Head of Academics, Birla Edutech, Mumbai) was present on the occasion. She addressed the gathering and briefed the parents about their philosophy which is based on the constructivist approach, where the learners are actively involved in their learning in a democratic environment & develop a global perspective and life skills to excel in his or her desired field. She laid stress on the holistic development of the child through integrated learning opportunities, which is the main aim and objective of the school.

Furthermore, she assured the parents with providing such a curriculum that will emphasize on independent learning, self-initiated projects, and experimentation.

While speaking about the teaching methodologies, she gave impetus on a learning strategy based on ‘Five Es', in which each ‘E' stands for a different phase, that is, Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend & Evaluate. The 5 Es allow students and teachers to experience common activities, to use and build on prior knowledge and experience, to construct meaning, and to continually assess their understanding of a concept.

Puspita apprised the parents that education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students, and enthusiastic parents that an effective partnership between parents, families, and schools to support children's learning leads to improved learning outcomes.
