Training cum awareness program held for fish farmers at Bandipora

BANDIPORA: Fisheries Department today organizes training cum awareness program for fish farmers here at Shokbaba Fish Hatchery.

Around 20 farmers from different parts of the district participated in the training program wherein the experts informed the farmers about various techniques of the farming and its productivity and also gave live demonstrations for the comprehension of the farmers.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir inaugurated the training program.

The training cum awareness program was organized by Department of Fisheries.

An interactive session was also held in which the farmers raised many questions which were responded by the experts

The farmers also put forward many suggestions with regard to the improvement in the fisheries sector and increasing the productivity. They demanded insurance cover for private fish farms and introduction of a scheme for fish farmers on the pattern of Kisan Credit Card.

Assistant Director Fisheries, Rafiq Ahmad Sofi informed about various schemes in place for the welfare of the fish farmers. He said that several other welfare schemes are in pipeline and urged farmers to take benefit of the schemes. He assured to communicate their demands to the higher ups for early redress.
