PDP workers real warriors: Mehbooba

SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said her party workers were the real warriors.

She said the workers of her party "may not have a gun or stone in hand, but they are the real mujahid".
Mehbooba said this while addressing a poll rally in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

"It is our party which gave relief to Kashmiris from POTA, Task Force and opened roads," she said, adding that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers have done much work than their counterparts in other parties.

She appealed to people to elect PDP candidate Abdul Qayoom Wani from the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat.

Later talking to reporters, Mehbooba said the decision to ban the Jamaat-e-Islami would have serious implications. "Arresting Jamaat activists does not mean their ideology will end. The ban will have serious implications," she said.

Meanwhile, PDP vice-president Abdul Rahman Veeri on Sunday welcomed senior CPM leader Mohammad Amin Dar into the party fold in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.

On the occasion, Veeri said PDP's firm stand on its agenda compelled the BJP to run away from the coalition last year.
