JU Udhampur Campus organises University-Village interface

JAMMU: University-Village interface was organized to analyse the impact of various village developmental activities undertaken by Udhampur Campus.

Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, the chief guest on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Udhampur Campus for their achievements and advised them to undertake more such activities in near future, which will bring a change in the mindset of the people.

Prof Dhar also advised them to undertake such activities in a systematic. Prof Dhar shared his personal experience with the audience to motivate the young faculty to do quality research.

Prof. Dhar advised the students to plant trees, aware the surroundings about various initiatives of Govt like, Digital India, rural health mission, water conservation. He also assured the audience that he will send experts to deliver their presentations regarding such issues.

He also informed the audience regarding recent approval of JKIDFC for two languishing projects of Udhampur Campus. Prof Dhar further listened to the grievances of students and gave on spot directions for provisions of Video Conferencing facility at Udhampur Campus and distributed saplings among the local people and staff of Udhampur campus. Prof Dhar also inspected various projects initiated under PMRP and on spot directed concerned officials for speedy completion of the approved projects.

Ashok Kumar, ADDC Udhampur, Guest of Honour on the occasion also congratulated Udhampur Campus for organizing such an event bringing close the University, local administration and community. He also assured the Vice Chancellor of full cooperation and support from District administration, Udhampur

Earlier, Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Rector, Udhampur Campus gave a brief overview of Udhampur Campus and highlighted various academic initiatives undertaken by them over the last few years. Dr. Kamani Dutta briefly explained the various social and village developmental activities done by the campus.

Later various village representatives along with Balwan Singh, Sarpanch and Daleep Anthal, Panch of village Garnai shared their views and the impact of social activities on the villagers undertaken by Udhampur Campus. They shared how health and awareness programmes, say no to polythene campaign, swachta abhiyaan and various other activities brought a change in their lifestyles.

They thanked the Vice Chancellor for his efforts to get the languishing projects approved by the state Govt. Jhanvi Khanna, lecturer, Department of Economics, Udhampur Campus congratulated all the women on International Women's Day which is celebrated each year on March 8.

She also shared the future endeavours of Udhampur Campus of creating an NGO that will work for the social upliftment of the village and encourage the women of the village to form their self help groups. Dr. Neetu Kumari, incharge, Department of Commerce, Udhampur Campus presented the welcome address where as Dr. Mamta Sharma presented the formal vote of thanks.

Among others Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Special secretary to Vice-Chancellor. Er.Suresh Sharma, Executive Engineer UWD, Irfan Goni, Campuses Development Officer were also present on the occasion.
