JU organises Rubroo on Women's Day

JAMMU: Post Graduate Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu, Jammu organized ‘RUBROO' - an Interaction cum Felicitation Programme on the occasion of International Women's Day. 

Prof. Anupama Vohra, Convener Publication Cell, University of Jammu, Jammu, the Chief Guest in her address said that International Women's Day is celebrated every year on 8th March for social, political, cultural and economic achievements of women and also to immortalize the movement for women's rights. The day also emphasizes on the importance of gender equality.

On this day, people from all over the world come together to take part in the celebrations of womanhood and humanity. Dr. Baljeet Kour, HoD, Punjabi in her welcome address delivered deep on the aspects of celebrating International Women's Day across the world. She added that women are now moving ahead in all the field of life and are playing significant role in all the fields of life.

Surinder Kour Neer a renowned Punjabi Poetess and Novelist and Devinder Singh Vishavnagarik a renowned Punjabi Poet and Dramatist were present as special guests. All Faculty members, intellectuals and the students were present in the function.

Surinder Kour Neer and S. Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik also expressed their views and reflected on the achievements of women in the field of social, political, cultural and economic world. They shared their experiences of their journey in the field of literature and theatre.

Dr. Kusum conducted the proceedings of the function and Dr. Harjinder Singh, Assistant Professor presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Pritam Singh, S. Manjeet Singh and Dr. Kamaljeet Kour assisted the conduct of the programme.
