GDC Bishnah celebrates International Women’s Day

JAMMU: Govt. Degree College, Bishnah celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing a Symposium and Collage Making Competition on the topics “Contribution of Women in the Development of Society” and “Multidimensional role of Women” respectively.

The Principal of the college Prof. K. S. Koushal was the Chief Guest. While acknowledging the key role of women in our society, he implored upon all the students, girls, in particular, to learn taking wise decisions on their own behalf pertaining to all aspect of life be it their education, career, marriage, and family. He exhorted the students to stand up and fight against the prevailing female feticide and gender discrimination as they are the ones who hold the responsibility of bringing a positive change in society.

The events were adjudged by Prof. Archana Bakshi, Dr. Alka Sharma, and Prof Anuradha. Riya (Sem. IInd), Sonali (Sem. IInd) and Rakhi (sem. IInd ) stood 1st    2nd, and 3rd respectively in Symposium whereas the first prize in Collage Making Competition was bagged by Romi, Rishma & Sonia collectively.

The occasion was marked by a very heart touching and inspirational performance in the form of a short skit “ Maa Mujhe Tagore Banna Hai” by renowned theatre artist Lucky Gupta which was witnessed by all the faculty and students of the College. Prof. Bhavana Jamwal presented a vote of thanks.
