Kathua Athletics meet postponed for February 24

JAMMU: Could not be held due to the prevailing law and order situation aftermath attack on the CRPF convoy, the District Kathua Athletics Championship has been postponed for February 24 (Sunday) at the same venue.

The district meet was scheduled to take place today at Sports Stadium, Kathua. "The competition could not be held due to the restrictions imposed by the administration for traffic and public gathering. The competition has been postponed for February 24 at the same venue," informed general secretary of the J&K Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Athletics Association, Sharat Chander Singh.

The meet shall be held in specific track and field events of 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, 5000 meters, Long Jump, Shot Put, Javelin and Discus Throw from 9 am onwards.

The competition is meant for under-16, under-18, under-20 and above 20 years age groups of both boys and girls.

Those athletes interested in taking part in this day-long competition have been advised to contact Sanjeev and Arun (9419207313 and 9419125450) bringing along age proof.

The selected athletes shall represent the district in the State Athletics Championships to be conducted at University of Jammu from March 11 to March 13.
