J&K wins 2nd runners-up trophy in National Taekwondo C’ship

JAMMU: J&K Taekwondo Team emerged overall 2nd runners-up in the 4th Cadet National Kyorugi and Poomsae Taekwondo Championship which was held at JN Indoor Stadium, Periyamedu, Chennai in Tamil Nadu.

The championship was organized by Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI), which is recognized by Indian Olympic Association (IoA).

J&K bagged 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in the Championship with the support of chief coach Atul Pangotra, Physical Education Teacher in the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) and is the youngest Referee chairman of Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI).

He was assisted by the assistant coach Tashi Tundup (National Medallist).

The medal winners in Poomsae category were Kushagra Sharma (Jammu), Zeeshan Mehndi (SAI-Kargil) and Sonam Chospal (SAI-Kargil), who shared the gold medal podium, while as Soham Sharma (Jammu) secured bronze medal.
In Kyorugi category Achutam Dev Singh (Jammu) secured the silver medal, while as Kushagra Sharma (Jammu) won the bronze medal.

J&K Taekwondo Association lauded the efforts of the players and the support staff for this achievement.
