Big haul of medals in Master Athletics

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir excelled in the just concluded National Masters Athletics Championship held at Sawai Man Singh Stadium Jaipur in Rajasthan winning 22 medals, including 12 Gold and six Silver.

The state Master athletes took part in different field and track events in various age groups of men and women. The State contingent accompanied by Tarsem Basotra and Sudesh Basotra as team managers while Sharat Chander Singh (NIS qualified in Athletics) was chief coach.

The medal winners: 35 Plus: Mangat Singh (3 plus), 10,000 mts gold and 5,000 mts silver. 40 Plus: Sharat Chander Singh: 100 mts silver; Riyaz Ahmed, 10,000 mts gold and 1500 mts bronze. 45 Plus: Seema Kharyal, 400 mts Hurdles bronze. 50 Plus: Pawan Sharma, 10,000 mts gold, 1500 mts silver and 200 mts bronze. 60 Plus: Sudesh Basotra, 5,000 mts Walk gold, 5000 mts silver; Kanta Bhutyal, 800 mts gold, 400 mts gold and 200 mts gold; Rampaul Kapoor, 5000 mts silver, 1500 silver and 800 mts gold. 65 Plus:Tarsem Basotra, 5000 mts Walk gold. 70 Plus: Brij Mohan Sharma, 400 mts bronze. 85 Plus: Devi Dayal Sharma, Shot Put gold, Discus Throw gold, Hammer Throw, gold.
