Road Safety Week: JSS participates in Walkathon

KATHUA: The students of Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua, participated in a Walkathon conducted by the Regional Transport Office Kathua, during the ‘Road Safety Week-2019' celebrations.

Road Safety Week is being celebrated 4th to 10th February. This year's theme is ‘Sadak Suraksha - Jeevan Raksha'.

The objective of the week long programme is to sensitize citizens about the motor vehicle rules and regulations, as well as, road safety measures which need to be adhered to save precious lives.

The ‘30th Road Safety Week' was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rohit Khajuria, KAS and District Superintendent of Police Kathua S. Patil IPS. The programme was started by an informational speech on Road Safety by DC Kathua.

S.S.P Kathua pointed towards the decreased death rate in Kathua district due to the safety measures which were implemented during the last 3 months.

RTO officer Dr. Rajkumar Thappa informed the children about the preventive measures which have to be followed religiously.

The event was concluded with a walkathon, which was started from G.D.C Kathua, passed through Martyrs' Chowk and culminated at Mukharjee Chowk, Kathua. The participants in the walkathon were the students of various School, Collages, NCC Cadets and Volunteers from NGO etc. They carried placards, banners based on road safety measures, safe driving etc.
