GCW Gandhi Nagar conducts Food Preservation workshop

JAMMU: A two-day workshop on "Food Preservation and Value Addition of Fruits & Vegetables" was organised by P.G. Department of Food Science & Technology, Govt. P.G. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.

The inaugural session was inaugurated by Dr. Koushal Smotra, Principal, Govt. P.G. College for women, Gandhi Nagar. Dr. Suresh Bhat, Convener and HOD, Chemistry Department welcomed resource person Dr. Gul Syed, Chief Canning Officer, Fruit Craft Centre, Chand Nagar Jammu. Dr. Gul Syed delivered lecture on value addition of fruits and vegetables with special reference to the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

In the second session, staff from Fruit Craft Centre, Chand Nagar demonstrated the preparation of various products from fruits and vegetables by using machines in the Pilot Plant laboratory of P.G. Department of Food Science & Technology.

In the third session, there was practical demonstration in the project laboratory of Department of Food Science & Technology and various products from tomatoes, oranges and apples were made.

Dr. Shalini Sharma, Prof. Ashwani Khajuria, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed Shah and Dr. Monika Hans, faculty members of Food Science & Technology Department were present on the occasion.
