Sampark, Sandeep Pal Club lift Handball titles

JAMMU: Sampark Club clinched women's title while men's trophy went to Sandeep Pal Club in the three-day Jammu District Handball Championship which was organised by the District Handball Association at MA Stadium, here today.

In women's final, Sampark Club defeated Sandeep Pal Club 8-7 in a close contest. Arushi remained top scorer from winning side with four goals while Megha and Poonam Kumari added two each.

Similarly, in men's category, Sandeep Pal Club trounced STC Jammu 34-27 goals. Sahil Padha remained top scorer with 10 goals from winning side while Varinder Singh and Neeraj singh netted nine and eight goals respectively.

In the finals and valedictory function, Chief Sports Officer (CSO) of the J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC), Hazi Abdul Qayoom was chief guest, who along with guest of honour, Divisional Sports Officer, Ravi Singh presented the title trophies as also other individual prizes.

Earlier, general secretary of the J&K Handball Association, Ashwani Kumar Raina welcomed the distinguished gathering a presented a detailed report of the event.

Among others present were president of the Association, Dr SM Bali; executive member, Sanjeev Jamwal; Rajesh Chanden; Rajesh Kapoor; Dev Raj (SAI Handball coach) and Vinay Sharma (Handball coach JKSSC).
