Deaf Judokas excel in Nationals

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir specially abled (Deaf) Judokas excelled in the Sixth National Deaf Junior Sports Championship and 23rd National Senior Deaf Sports Championships held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.

As per the reports reaching here, ten Judokas from the State took part in this championship which was organised by the Tamil Nadu Sports Council of the Deaf.

From J&K, three junior Judokas won three medals, including two gold. While Rakesh Singh (below 60 kg) and Sneha Verma (below 44 kg) secured gold, Riya Bhatia (below 48 kg) won bronze.

Similarly, in the senior category six judokas contested for the top honours and all of them won gold. The medal winners: Rohit Kumar (below 60 kg), Vishal Khajuria (below 66 kg), Nabeel Ahmed Dar (below 73 kg), Gulshan Kumar (below 90 kg), Shikha Kumari (below 52 Kg) and Rakhshinda Mehak (below 70 Kg).
