GDC Samba celebrates National Voters’ Day

SAMBA: 9th National Voters' Day was today celebrated at Govt Degree College Samba.

National Voters Day was initiated by the then President of India Pratibha Devi Patil on 61st foundation day of Election Commission of India.

The Chief Guest Arvind Kotwal Additional District Development Commissioner Samba, graced the occasion and congratulated the participants for upholding the novel principles of a healthier and vibrant democracy in Samba. He said that public at large should exercise their right to vote, which is not only a fundamental duty but also a moral obligation in taking part to make India a thriving democracy.

During the elaborated function, Chief Guest along with Deputy District Election Officer Khalid Hussain, felicitated most efficient Booth level Officials namely Mohd. Razak of AC Vijaypur and Nitin Rampal of AC Samba. Bags and Mobile Phones were distributed to Other BLOs of District.

Dy. DEO informed that GHS Jakh and GGHS Samba were also honoured for their exemplary work in creating awareness and empowerment of electorates under Electoral Literacy Club by presenting them a memento each.

Students of Govt. Degree College presented an informative symposium and debates about the National Voters Day. Best orators were awarded Prize and certifications. Later, the college students and officers took National Voters' Day Pledge.

Assistant Commissioner (Development), Muddasir Tasir KAS, District Information Officer, Ajay Sharma KAS, Functional Manager DIC samba, I/C Principal Govt Degree College Samba, and other District officers, besides Sarpanchs and panchs of newly elected panchayat bodies, were also present.
