FOB organizes Awareness programme on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' at Manjakote

RAJOURI: An awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was organized by Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and broadcasting Government of India, Field Outreach Bureau, Rajouri at ICDS office, Manjakote today.

The event took place in the presence of Najma Nayazi CDPO, Manjakote, Khursheed Manhas, Patwari Head Quarter Revenue, Manjakote, Supervisors, Angan-wardi workers and Helpers of ICDS Majakote.

The aim of the programme was to intensify the awareness being spread on the scheme ‘Beti bachao Beti Padhao' during the week being observed from 21st of January to 26th of January 2019 with the theme ‘empowering girls for a better tomorrow.'

Najma CDPO, Manjakote in her address urged the ICDS worker to spread the message of Health and Nutrition, Laws and Acts for welfare of women, ill effects of early child marriage and Protection of Child from sexual offences (POSCO) Act, PC&PNDT Act and opportunities for girl child in carrier counseling and future in their respective areas of field. She also urged them to motivate parents to send their daughters to schools and send them for vocational training.

Vijay Mattoo, I/c FOB, Rajouri in his welcome address enlightened the audience about the working and mandate of ROB & said that the motive behind organizing this programme was to create awareness among the general masses about Saving Girl child and educating girl child for empowering them to be a better citizen and self-reliant. He also spoke on various Laws and Acts meant for the welfare of women viz. The prohibition of Child Marriage Act, Special Marriage Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, Maternity Benefits Act, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, Indecent Representation of women Act, National Commission for Women Act, and Equal Remuneration Act. He urged the field workers of ICDS department to let women know these laws and acts for their safety.

Many supervisors and Angan-wardi workers also spoke on the topic during the programmeA cultural programme including folk songs, theme based songs and skits was also organized by the ICDA workers of Manjakote.
