ROB Jammu organises Self Defence Camps for girls

JAMMU: A series of self defence camps are being organised by Bureau of Outreach and communication, Regional Outreach Bureau, Govt of India, Jammu in different parts of the state during the celebrations of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao week.

In this series a programme was organised at Govt Girls Hr Sec School Nawabad and Govt Girls Hr Sec School Rehari Jammu which was attended by a large number of girls. This was followed by a talk show on “Women safety in public places” by Deepa Sharma.

Through these camps the Regional Outreach Bureau Jammu is trying to impart the self defence techniques, skills and tricks among the girl students so that they can cope up with any kind of exigency in their lives especially with regard to their safety.

Presenting the welcome address Sh Rajesh Sharma, In-charge Field Publicity Officer, Jammu emphasised women safety as being an essential part of BBBP Campaign.  He said that the safety of girl is associate with mindset of the society. All the programmes and policies of government will be successful only when the mind set of society is changed. He urged the girls to be brave and skilful to overcome all kinds of adverse situations in life.

In the camp many self defence techniques and skill were imparted among the girls of the schools. Live demonstrations on various techniques for self defence were presented by Palvi Sharma International Medal Winner, Deepika Chauhan,Miss Deepa Sharma National level Karate players. A question answer session by school girls was also organised with the players. Students enthusiastically asked many questions from the experts about the real life situations regarding the safety at public places.  . Girls of the school also performed many techniques of self defence in presence of karate experts.

Principal Govt Girls Hr Sec School Rehari Jammu Rajni Kotwal said that the need for self defence techniques for girls is need of hour. Anita Zutshi Principal Govt Girls Hr Sec school Nawabad Jammu in her address expressed that girls should inculcate the habit of bravery and self confidence. She appreciated the efforts of Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) Jammu for choosing the school for such a grand programme and hoped that ROB will keep on organising such programmes in near future too.

Many theme based colourful cultural items presented during the programmes by registered troupes of ROB spellbound the audiences and also multiplied the theme of the programme among the audiences.
