Inter-Zonal Sports Meet of JKP concludes

JAMMU: Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam today desired that the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) must hold sports events for the jawans and officers at the district and range level to as to take sports to the grass root level for finding and nurturing the talent.

The Chief Secretary (CS) was speaking at the valedictory of the five-day long sports event. The CS, who was chief guest of the closing function, presented winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.

He said, "JKP is among the finest police forces of the country. The government has taken a number of steps with regard to the enhancement of Ex-gratia for the NOKs of martyred police personnel and the SPOs; created more promotional avenues as well as by implementing Non Functional Grade Scheme for the officers."

While announcing more such welfare measures being taken in near future, the top officer of the state desired that such sports events must be held at district and range levels.

The DGP, Dilbag Singh said that because of the advisor to Governor, K.Vijay Kumar, Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam and Home Secretary, RK Goyal, the proposals with regard to the welfare measures of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been decided and implemented in shortest possible time. The DGP informed that more than 950 participants from different wings took part in the Inter Zone sports meet.

He said that such events bring in positivity and also provide an opportunity to the police personnel from different zone to develop new friendships. He said another event of sport "Police Martyrs Memorial" is going on in full swing at Kathua and its final will be played soon. The DGP complimented the winners and the participants.

The ADGP Armed, AK Chowdhary while presenting the vote of thanks, briefed about the different aspects of the sports meet. He thanked the chief guest, the DGP J&K and others senior retire as well as serving civil and police officers for gracing the occasion.
