GCW Udhampur observes communal harmony week

JAMMU: Govt. College for Women Udhampur in collaboration with the National Foundation for Communal Harmony, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, observed Communal Harmony Week 2018 and Flag Day on the culminating day.

The prime motive of observing this particular week is to disseminate the message of Communal Harmony amongst the students and other stakeholders of the society. It is ultimately instrumental in rendering peace and prosperity in society.

Also, these sorts of events are used to raising funds which could be utilized for the noble cause of helping the destitute and downtrodden sections of the society.

The programme began with an introductory note and welcome address by Prof. Swarna Bhougal, Assistant Professor, GCW Udhampur. Thereafter, Dr. Chander Shekhar, Principal, GCW Udhampur had a word with the students and told them the significance of the events like this. He stressed that these events are meant to learn the societal predicaments of a nation and therefore instrumental in building peace and integrity in the social set up. He also appealed to the students to take the message to the society.

The Programme ended up with the vote of thanks by Shriya Sharma, NSS volunteer, GCW Udhampur.
