JU Organises National Seminar

JAMMU: One day National Seminar on 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was organized to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of University of Jammu by P.G. Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu.

Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Hon'ble Vice- Chancellor, University of Jammu, Jammu was the Chief Guest on this occasion Prof. Manjeet Singh, Former HoD, Punjabi, University of Delhi, Delhi, was the special invitee. Dr. Baljeet Kour, Head of the Department presented formal welcome address.

The programme started with Gurbani Shabad presented by students of P.G. Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu, Jammu.

Prof. Manjeet Singh, Former HoD, Punjabi, University of Delhi, Delhi, presented a detailed paper on the life and principles of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who conveyed the message of equality of human beings and the concept of oneness among the people.

Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Hon'ble Vice- Chancellor University of Jammu spoke on the contribution of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the social life of the people suffering from discrimination and injustice.

In the second session Prof. Ramnika Jalali Former Dean, Faculty of Arts University of Jammu preside over the function meanwhile the presidium was also shared by Kanwal Kasmiri and Dr. Monojit.

The scholars of P.G. Department namely Dr. Randheer Kour, S. Manjeet Singh, Kusum and S. Rajveer Singh presented their papers and Dr. Snobar, Dr. Kamaljeet Kour, Chanpreet Kour, Gurpreet Kour, Kuldeep Kour, Sumreen Kour, Rajveer Singh, Pavleen Kour, Tegdhar Kour, Amneet Kour and Tamandeep Kour recited their poems highlighting the historical, cultural, mythological and scientific importance and relevance of philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Granth Sahib in the present scenario.

S. Harsimran Singh, Ph. D scholar of the Department conducted the proceedings of the function. Dr. Kamaljeet Kour, S. Manjeet Singh and Kusum assisted the programme.
