Shemford Futuristic School celebrates Diwali

JAMMU: The festival of lights, Diwali, was celebrated with traditional fervor at Shemford Futuristic School Jammu Birpur on Monday.

Students of Primary Wing presented a special assembly and apprised the audience about the festival, which marks the triumph of light over darkness and the beginning of the Hindu new year. They also highlighted the significance of this important day and took turns to speak about this day when Rama, the Hindu god had returned to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile, and so in honor of his return people decorate their houses with earthen lamps and diyas and illuminate the sky with fireworks.

Vice Principal Ranjula Bali requested the students to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali and refrain themselves from burning crackers so as to create a clean enivornment for all living beings.

Children made and decorated Diwali cards and lanterns. The teachers spoke to them about Diwali and the values of sharing and caring that these festivals teach us.

The celebrations culminated with a get together in the school campus where the entire kindergarten team assembled to celebrate Diwali.

The Primary and Kindergarten coordinators Harjinder Kaur and Sushma Choudhary explained the significance and importance of Diwali. In the classes, children shared sweets and goodies with their friends.
