State's first in-hostel Kushti Akhara opens November 8

JAMMU: The State's first in-hostel Kushti Mud Akhara shall be opened for the trainees in a well organised function slated for November eight at Disha Chhatravaas in Kadmal area of the holy town of Katra.

This was decided in a meeting of the executive body of the Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association held at the venue-- Disha Chhatravaas Kadmal (Katra) under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. Shiv Kumar also holds the important post of patron-in-chief of Sewa Bharti J&K that runs the Disha Chhatravaas.

"The meeting also discussed the future course of action with regard to running a regular training centre as and when the Akhara is declared open. As many 35 school going boys reside at the Disha Hostel Kadmal and are the future prospects in the indigenous Kushti. The training facility (mud akhara) shall be inaugurated on November eight at 11.30 am (Thursday) in a well attended function. The facility would certainly help the youth channelize their energy in right direction," Shiv Kumar Sharma told Jammu Links News.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Simrandeep Singh has consented to be the chief guest in the inaugural function.

Akhara shall be run under the joint management of Sewa Bharti, J&K in collaboration with Kreeda-Bharti J&K and Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association.

Meanwhile, Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association shall also felicitate the event partners, who whole heartedly supported the 14th "Mission-Dosti" International Indian Style Kusti Maha Dangal held at Sports Stadium, SMVDSB Katra on October 16 last.

Others who attended the meeting were Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Sohan Singh (Sonu), Raj Kumar Padha, Ramnik Nowadha, Sukhdev Singh, Rattan Singh Manhas, Mubarik Singh, Babu Ram Sharma, Amit Rahi, Virinder Kesar, Prabhat Singh (Mangali), Jagdev Singh, Deepak Wazir, ER. Ajay Singh, Deepi Pandit, Sham Singh, Raman Goswami, Ghansara Singh, Ashwani Katoch, Rakesh Dubey, Ranjeet Singh, Ramesh Chander (Bobby) and Rajinder Mengi.
