Narcotic smuggler arrested with heroin

UDHAMPUR: The Police achieved a major success by arresting a narcotic smuggler who had escaped from Police custody.

Giving details, SSP Udhampur, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, said that based on a reliable information regarding the movement of the narcotic smuggler Iftikhar Ali, son of Muzzafar Din of Kotli Bain, Chopra Shop, Udhampur highway along with a consignment of heroin in Rehmbal area, the Police laid strong nakas on highway.

During checking, Police party at Tikri noticed this wanted smuggler traveling in a passenger vehicle and immediately arrested him.

During his search, 6 gms of heroin worth Rs 30, 000 was recovered.

A case FIR No.148 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS Rehmbal against the accused. Further investigation was in progress.

Meanwhile, Roundomail police party under the supervision of Insp Sanjeev Chib SHO Udhampur assisted by SI Jaswinder Singh caught one suspected person at Roundomail.

During his search, the police recovered 600 tablets of Tramadol from his possession. He was identified as V. Hussain, son of Yaqoob Ali of Tarmara, Udhampur. He arrested and a case FIR No.520/18 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered against him.
