Shifting of Oil Depots reviewed by Commissioner/Secretary FCS&CA Department

JAMMU: An all-important Review Meeting-cum-Site Visit on Shiftimg of Oil Depots was carried out by BPCL & All PSUs in Jammu today under the Chairpersonship of Commissioner/Secretary Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department Dr Abdul Rashid along with Director FCS&CA Jammu Amit Sharma.

Oil Industry in J&K comprises of the three Govt of India PSUs i.e., BPCL, IOCL and HPCL making Gas and Oil reaching to the consumers under the overall co-ordinated supervision of Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

Out of the three OMCs, Bharat Petroleum is the coordinating company responsible for shifting of the oil depots from Jammu City, efforts for which are going on since long.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Shifting of the Oil depots from Jammu city had always been a priority of Oil industry for which efforts are jointly being done by the OMCs with State Government.

This Urgent Meeting on this burning issue was attended by the heads of the Retail and LPG along with their teams in which various other matters such as the need of Traffic Jamming at Oil Depots, Tracking of Kerosene Tank Lorries using GPS, Review of PMUY, Effective use of newly revived Mobile teams to check Petrol Pumps etc was discussed.

While the Retail team of BPCL headed by Rajesh Sharma apprised the members on the progress of shifting of the oil depots from city to Village Bajalta, other team members from Retail and LPG shared their issues seeking intervention of the directorate in ensuring the smooth supplies of Petroleum Products to the consumers.

Director FCS&CA Sh Amit Sharma noted all issues and assured the members of the Oil Industry that these critical issues shall be dealt with, on top priority by the Government and communication to all concerned shall be made to get them sorted out at the earliest.

Later, the team of the FCS&CA deptartment led by Commissioner/Secretary Dr Abdul Rashid along with members of oil industry and Legal Metrology wing visited the Oil Depots behind Jammu Railway Station and took stock of the situation where more than 1000 heavy vehicles carrying Petroleum products move in a jammed situation. A mock Fire drill was also conducted by the team of Bharat Petroleum Depot officers to show how the response in case of any incident in the depot.

Same team of officers later visited the site at Bajalta where the process of land acquisition is going on. While speaking on the occasion, Dr Abdul Rashid appreciated the efforts of the oil companies who have been managing the show of supply and distribution of these essential commodities effectively to the whole state under such constraints.

Others prominent members on the occasion were Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology and from the oil industry Surinder Dogra, Varinder Singh from BPCL, Rajeev Yadav from IOCL, Krishan Lal and Aijaz Ahmed from HPCL with their teams who attended the meeting.

It was also suggested by the group that such meetings between the State Governemnt and Oil Companies should be a regular affair, for which Commissioner Secretary and Director FCS&CA agreed to.
