District Reasi Sport Climbing meet held

JAMMU: Continuing its thrust to complete all the district competitions and then to conduct a month-long coaching camp prior to the National Sport Climbing Competition, Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK) today conducted Reasi District Sport Climbing Competition at Sprawling Buds School, here.

It was fourth competition organized at Jammu as the Association. Earlier, the Association conducted Jammu district (April 26th and 27th); Udhampur (May 26th) and State competition (September 12th and 13th). Samba district competition is due to be conducted in the third week of October.

About 65 budding climbers of Reasi participated in the day-long competition conducted in four categories. Since many climbers were participating in their maiden competition the competitions were conducted on ‘top rope' to make them feel safe and secure.

The event held under the supervision of Shawetica Khajuria, a national judge in sport climbing. Whereas Shilpa Charak, Mrityunjay Sharma, Ajay Deep Singh, Rahul Sharma and Arun Deep Singh were the Route Setters cum Belayers of the competition, Shivani Charak was the Judge of the competition.

Divisional Sports Officer, J&K State Sports Council, Ravi Singh was chief guest, who along with Principal of Amba Kids Home, Panthal, Reasi distributed medals and mementoes to the winners of the State as well as Reasi district Sport Climbing competition.

The Results:

Mini Boys: Asiq Ali, Ist; Pranam, 2nd and Omar Nazir Khan, 3rd. Sub Junior Boys: Dilbag Singh, Ist; Gulab Singh, 2nd and Ashraf, 3rd. Junior Boys: Asir Anjum, Ist; Jamal Din, 2nd and Shubham, 3rd. Sub Junior. Girls: Fiza, Ist; Akshra Thakur, 2nd and Neelum Akhtar, 3rd.

Meanwhile, final round of competition in four categories of State Sport Climbing Competition which could not be completed on September 13 because of certain reasons were also completed today and results were declared.

The Results: Mini Girls: Suniyai, Ist; Deepali, 2nd and Anshika, 3rd. Sub Junior Boys: Rahul Sharma, Ist; Ranveer Thakur, 2nd and Ajay Kumar, 3rd. Sub Junior Girls: Namrita Singh, Ist; Ashita, 2nd and Sukriti, 3rd. Mini Boys: Harsh Peer, Ist; Keshwam Dev Singh Manhas, 2nd and Vaibhav Thakur, 3rd.

Meanwhile, general secretary of Mountaineering Association, Ram Khajuria has announced that a special camp shall be organized for all the medalists of Reasi and Udhampur districts to impart them proper training in sport climbing at Jammu.
