Inter-college Basketball finals today

JAMMU: The PG Departments shall be playing against GGM Science College in the final of the men's inter-college basketball tournament, organised by the Department of Sports, University of Jammu (JU) on the campus courts, here tomorrow.

Earlier, in the semifinals, decided today, PG Departments outplayed SPMR College of Commerce 48-17 in a one-sided contest while Science College trounced Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua 42-31.

Similarly, in women section, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade shall take on the combined side of PG Departments of JU in the final tomorrow at the same venue.

CHESS: The semifinals of inter-college men and women Chess competition shall be played tomorrow at the Gymnasium Hall on the JU Campus. The Results: Semifinals: Men: GCET Jammu beat GDC Udhampur 3-1; SPMR College of Commerce beat PG Department 3-1; MIET Jammu beat GDC Hiranagar 3-1; GGM Science College beat GDC Kathua 4-0. Women: GDC Reasi got walkover PG Department; GCW Udhampur beat GCW Kathua 3-1; GDC Kathua beat YCET Jammu 3-1; GCW Parade beat MIET Jammu 4-0. The competition is being officiated by the technical penal comprising SP Sharma and Sushil Sawhney.

FOOTBALL: The GDC Kathua, Government MAM College and GGM Science College won their respective matches to move into the next round of the inter-college men's football competition underway on the JU campus grounds today.

The Results: GDC Kathua beat ASCOMS 5-1 (Yogesh 8th and 36, Parvamveer 13th and 16, Narayan 19th; Tehsin 38th). MAM College beat GDC Hiranagar 6-5 (Nabeel Malik, Naresh Singh, Punchok Angchok, Akhilesh Slathia, Shafiq Ahmed, Jagbir Singh; Akshat Sharma, Bhabeshwar, Arun Kumar, Gourav, Amandeep); GGM Science College beat MBS College 2-1 (Namgyal 4th,Teshi 22nd; Vivasvan 20th).

The technical penal comprised Suresh Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Dheeraj Menda, Rohit Gupta, Taranpal Singh and Gagan Kumar.
