Mega Masters Badminton event starts today

JAMMU: Jammu is going to host first of its kind mega All India Masters Badminton Championship, organised by Tigers Badminton Club at J&K Police Badminton Hall, District Police Lines, here tomorrow.

Around 250 veteran shuttlers from different parts of the country have confirmed their participation to the organising committee of the championships.

This was stated by organising secretary of the championship, Balbir Singh Jamwal while speaking to the media here today.

"The event shall include those national and international badminton players of the past. A good number of prominent names in the National badminton shall be seen competing on the Jammu courts," informed Balbir Singh, who was flanked by other members of his team.

The event is being held under the chairmanship of Director General of J&K Police, Dilbag Singh, who has been a source of inspiration behind the mega event also called as ‘Jammu Masters Badminton Championship'.

The competition shall be held in different categories that include Men's doubles (combined age groups of 75 plus, 85 plus, 95 plus, 105 plus and 115 plus); Women's Doubles (75 plus and 85 plus), Mixed Doubles (75 plus and 85 plus).

Meanwhile, as per the fixture drawn, around 300 matches shall be played during the four-day long competition.
