Arvindu wins Rs 10,000 cash prize Chess event

JAMMU: Arvindu Sharma bagged the first prize worth Rs 10,000 in the open cash prize chess tournament organised by Jammu District Chess Association at Ace Chess Academy, here under the aegis of All J&K Chess Association.

Second place went to Soham Kamotra, who secured Rs 5000 while third prize of Rs.2000 went to Sumit Grover. Ranbir Singh won senior citizen prize of Rs 1000 whle best woman prize of Rs 1000 given to Ojaswani Mengi. Pranav Abrol and Radhika won the first place in under-12 boys and girls category to secure Rs 500 cash prize each.

In total cash prizes of Rs.20,000 were distributed among the winners. Players from Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Ramban participated in this open event, a handout issued here today informed.

The main purpose of the event was to provide juniors a chance to play with the senior players in order to give them big exposure and platform, the handout added.

The prizes were given a way by president All J&K Chess Association, Atul Kumar Gupta alongwith Raj Kumar, Vikas Nanda and Vijay choudhary.
