Pallanwala lifts Dev Raj memorial Volleyball Tourney

JAMMU: Pallanwala Club lifted the Dev Raj Khajuria memorial Volleyball Tournament outplaying Territorial Army (TA) 157 in straight sets 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-21) in the title clash at MA Stadium, here.

In all, 16 teams drawn from local clubs and para-military forces participated in this two-day championship. Earlier, in the semifinals, TA 157 beat 4th RAJ RAF 3-2 (25-17, 25-23, 24-26, 23-25, 15-10) while Pallanwala outplayed Trikuta Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22).

Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Rajesh Gupta was chief guest, who gave away the title trophies and cash prizes as also other individual prizes. While winners Pallanwala presented with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while runners-up TA got Rs 5,000.

Special prizes worth Rs 2,000 each were given away to best players, Anil Singh of Pallanwala and Romi of TA 157 by Patron-in-Chief of Volleyball Association of J&K, Raj Daluja, who was guest of honour of the final.

The chief Guest lauded the efforts of the organisers and assured every possible help to promote the game among youth thereby keeping youngsters in the society away from the evils of drug menace. Amongst others present were HS Gill, Kuldip Magotra, VK Magotra en Secretary, RC Sharma, Akbar Ali, Anchal Singh, SS Gill and Balwan Singh.

Organising secretary of the tournament, presented the vote of thanks. The matches were officiated Rajesh Virdhy, Amit Sharma, Jagjit Singh, Sardar Amarjit Singh, Satpaul and Shubam Sharma.
