DIS organizes Inter School Debate Competition

JAMMU: Doon International School, Jammu organized an Inter School Debate Competition under the aegis of Sahodaya School Complex Jammu. The topic for the debate was "My Happiness Quotient is more important than my Academic Excellence".

19 reputed Sahodaya schools of Jammu region participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.The President Sahodaya School Complex Jammu Jagdish Singh Dhami (Principal,Heritage School Jammu) and Nirmal Mahna (Principal, DPS Rajbagh,Kathua) and General Secretary Jammu Sahodaya were the chief guest on the occasion. The guests of honor were, K.C.S. Mehta (Principal, APS Akhnoor) and Vivek Arora(Principal, Bhargava Public School, Samba). The event was judged by Madhvi Sharma(Senior Broadcaster,Radio Kashmir Jammu) and Supriya Chouhan(Lawyer, High Court Jammu).

It was a free flowing debate format which initiated the celebration of ideas, encouraged growth of research, collaboration and analytical approach apart from oratory skills.

Gayatri Singh of APS Damana School bagged 1st prize followed by Anubhav Dubey of Doon International School Jammu and Praguni Wazir of APS Nagrota who shared the 2nd position. Ridhima Bhardwaj of KC International School Jammu and Saransh Mahajan of APS Nagrota shared the 3rd prize. The consolation prize was shared by Daksh Manhas of Doon International School and Nittya of APS Akhnoor.

The occasion was compared by Rachana Khanna. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Vikesh Kaur (Principal, Doon International School Jammu) who while addressing the gathering appreciated the efforts of the participants and the teachers who worked hard to prepare them for displaying an amazing projection of competence and expression. She extended her heartfelt gratification to all the special guests and the members of jeury for sparing their valuable time and making the event a fructuous and productive platform for the children.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagdish Singh Dhami, President Jammu Sahodaya expressed his immense surprise over the meticulous and diligent performance of the children. Nirmal Mahna in her address to the gathering congratulated the participants and was excited to see the level of confidence of the students representing Jammu region.
