Google doodle honors the late cricketer Dilip Sardesai on his 78th birth anniversary

NEW DELHI: Google Doodle honoured the late cricketer Dilip Sardesai on his 78th birth anniversary.

Dilip Sardesai is best known for playing a vital role in reshaping Indian cricket when India beat the mighty West Indies in their den in 1971. That series was to change the approach of Indian cricket towards the top teams like West Indies, England and Australia.

Dilip Sardesai was considered lucky to have been selected for the tour to West Indies, but he proved his critics wrong by a huge margin amassing 642 runs with three centuries including a top score of 212.

Sardesai also made 54 and 40 in the 1971 Oval Test against England which India went on to register a famous win. He scored 201 runs in 30 Tests at an average on 39.23 with five hundreds and nine centuries.
