Saqlin bags Volleyball Bronze in BRICS Games

JAMMU: Promising volleyball player from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, Saqlin Tariq has won Bronze medal after Indian boys under-21 team finished third in the BRICS Games held in South Africa.

The Indian girls' team secured a Silver finishing second in the competition. This was Saqlin's second international event after 10th Asian Youth Championship held in Sri Lanka in 2014.

Meanwhile, Shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball Club Poonch congratulated the Indian teams for winning the medals. Chairman of the Club and father of Saqlin, Mohd Tariq expressed his thanks to the general secretary of Volleyball Federation of India (VFI), Ramavtar Jakhar and the Volleyball Association of J&K for supporting and patronising the young spiker from the state.

He also expressed his gratitude to patron in chief of VAJK, Raj Daluja for playing a key role in convincing the VFI in encouraging young J&K talent.
