RCC Reasi wins by 5 wkts in JKCA tourney

JAMMU: The RCC Reasi defeated TCC Thampal to strengthen their position in the ongoing district Reasi cricket tournament for JKCA Premier Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium, Reasi.

Earlier, batting first, TCC Thampal set a target of 113 runs losing all their wickets in 25.3 overs of the 30 overs a side game. Rajat and Vijaypal remained top scorers with 38 runs each. From RCC Reasi, Sahil and Soni took three wickets each, followed by Shivam Sharma, who claimed two.

In reply, RCC Reasi attained the goal in 21.4 overs losing five wickets. Shivam Sharma played fine innings of 31 (off 17 balls) not out while Kapil and Harsh contributed 29 runs each. Vijaypal and Arjun clinched two wickets each from TCC Thampal.

For his all round performance, Shivam was declared man of the match.

RAJOURI: Meanwhile, in district Ramban tournament, semifinals line up has been drawn with Stadium XI Rajouri winning the fourth quarterfinal by a big margin of 86 runs against Sunderbani Cricket Club at District Police Lines ground, here.

Batting first, after winning the toss, Stadium XI set a challenging target of 283 runs for six wickets in 30 overs, courtesy brilliant century from Sajid Khan. Sajid faced just 66 deliveries to make 104 runs studded with 10 sixes and four boundaries. Ruskar Choudhary and Sudam Khan were other main scorers with 43 and 42 runs respectively. Yasser Khan Kurru added 27. From Sunderbani, Tarun and Ravi shared two wickets each.

Later, Sunderbani could not chase the total and the while side bowled out for 196 runs in 24.5 overs. Akhil (56), Jasbir Singh (40 off 18 balls) and Sumit Raina (35 off 11 balls) were main contributors to the total. Mahmood Chowdhary bowled deadly spell taking away four wickets for 38 runs in six overs. Yaaser Hussain and Yasser Khan Kurru took two wickets each.

For his superb century, Sajid Khan was obvious choice for the man of the match title.
