Coaching camp for rural youth concludes at Katra

JAMMU: To attract rural youth towards sports culture, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) organised ten days long coaching camp at its Sports Complex, Katra in district Reasi.

Around 50 deserving athletes were involved in three sports disciplines of Kabaddi, Tug of War and Volleyball, a handout issued by the Sports wing of the SMVDSB here today informed.

On the concluding day of this coaching camp, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SMVDSB, Dr Arvind Karwani was the chief guest, who interacted with the campers and their coaches. Speaking to the gathering, he laid stress on play in true spirit of sportsmanship and further advised them to practice at least one sporting event in their student life.

Earlier, Director Sports SMVDSB, Ashok Kumar informed that most of the 48 campers represented the for flung areas of Arnas, Gaari, Pouni, Reasi, Charai and other places falling under holy town of Katra. During these days both intensive and extensive physical fitness training and specialized coaching imparted by the technical individuals involved in the camp.

Later, all the participants were awarded with the participation certificates by Dr. Karwani and Director Sports on the successful completion of the training program.
