JKCA Premier Cricket Championship | Vijay guides Akhnoor Warriors to 2-wkt win

JAMMU: Superb half century from Vijay Singh today helped Akhnoor Warriors make it a two wickets win against Palanwala Cricket Club in the Tehsil Akhnoor and other Tehsils tournament for JKCA Premier Cricket Championship underway at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.

Earlier, batting first, Pallanwala scored 122 runs losing all their wickets in 19.1 overs of the 20 overs a side game. Mohinder and Aryan were main contributors to the total with 30 and 18 runs respectively. From Akhnoor Warriors, Sagar, Deepak and Romit shared three wickets each. Among these bowlers, Romit was most successful with three for 13 in three overs.

In reply, Akhnoor Warriors chased the total making 126 runs for eight wickets in 17.3 overs. Vijay played fine innings of 35-ball 51 runs while Tarun contributed 18-ball 24. Sukhant and Atul shared two wickets each from Pallanwala Club.

Ajay Singh was named man of the match.

Meanwhile, in another match of the Akhnoor Tehsil, Aghore County Club defeated Little Flower Akhnoor by one wicket. Batting first, Little Flower set a target of 135 runs for nine in 20 overs, which, in reply, Aghore County Club chased in 19.1 overs for nine wickets. Vikas of the winning side declared man of the match.

RAMBAN: In district Ramban Cricket Tournament, Asan Cricket Club registered a three wickets win against Green Sporting Club. Earlier, Green Sporting Club won the toss and decided to bat first made 239 runs for nine wickets in allotted 30 overs. Mohd Wasid hit fine 93 not out off just 37 deliveries studded with seven fours and eight hits over the fence. In reply, Asan Club chased the total making 243 runs for seven in 28.5 overs, courtesy brilliant unbeaten century (121 runs off 72 balls, 16x4, 4x6) from Ifqar Ahmed. Later, Ifqar named man of the match.

POONCH: In Poonch district tournament, Poonch XI defeated Peer Panchal Club by seven wickets. Batting first, Peer Panchal scored 139 runs losing all their wickets in 23.4 overs, which, in reply, Poonch XI chased in 14 overs for the loss of three wickets.

REASI: Meanwhile, in district Reasi tournament underway at Sports Stadium, here, NCC trounced SR Cricket Club by 47 runs. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, NCC set a target of 196 runs for nine wickets in given 30 overs. In reply, SR could not chase and bowled out for 148 runs in 24.1 overs. Arun of NCC was declared man of the match for scoring half century.
